KODESH

A primary goal of the Cheder’s Kodesh program is to cultivate in our students a love of Yiddishkeit, as well as pride and a sense of mission in being a Chossid.

Our melamdim create a warm and encouraging environment for learning Torah. They ensure that students develop the rigorous skills in Chumash, Halacha and Talmud that will equip them for their continuing journey in learning in Mesivta and Yeshiva, and throughout their lives. The Cheder seeks to provide a chinuch that enables our students to have an ongoing, profound engagement with our holy texts, to inspire themselves and others.

Developing good middos and yiras shomayim is the foundation of the Cheder’s educational approach, and our teachers are as devoted to the personal growth and wellbeing of the students as much as to their academic learning.

All the learning that takes place in Cheder is guided by the Rebbe’s teachings and is infused with the spirit of Chassidus, simcha and Ahavas Yisroel.

GENERAL STUDIES AT CHEDER

The General Studies program at Cheder Levi Yitzchok is designed to complement the overall educational goals of the school. Students are taught communication, literacy and numeracy skills, and expand their comprehension, analytical thinking and creativity through humanities and arts. Wherever possible the required Key Learning Areas of the Victorian Curriculum are delivered using Torah sources, and the Cheder works continuously to develop this integrated model. Where that is not possible, materials are strictly vetted to ensure that only resources consistent with our Jewish values are used in the classroom.
